![]() With lungs trying to breathe And a mind trying to stop A heart staggering along the edge A string bound to the highest of mountains Going deep into the ocean Waiting for fear to plunge into the cold water And somewhere far away there might be a flash of light From lack of oxygen And spots would cover what you see And it won't be long before you know That even your own strengths Are no match to the pull of the thread And fighting your way up a mountain With a string pulling around your neck Is harder than breathing underwater So you slip And you fall And you don't regret it for even a second As you feel the frosty silence of waves crashing Molding around your body the water makes way And soon enough you're lying on the bottom Looking up at the sky Because even the wettest of oceans are drier than a desert And you're burning from the inside out And your lungs are coughing up smoke And your heart is a wildfire Threatening to ignite you And so you stop You let the ashes fall from your hand And you watch as your bones melt And you lose a limb To the fight against something you can't possibly win And you can hear the sirens And the echo of your silent heart As your body splits in two And the only sane part of you Dries in the sun And even your sanity drown in the hottest of oceans And with neither body nor mind You just give in And the ocean collapses And it swallows your body whole And you think to yourself that maybe Just maybe You shouldn't have touched the smoke in the first place |
