You wouldn't believe that this yellow cealing, was once white.  Or that the bed use to be gray.
I stared at the room for a few minutes.
Then an old woman came in. We were told to call her Lady, but among the patients she went my the name Mrs. Pigsleeve. I don't think anybody really knows why, though. The woman was about 70 years old. She had white hair, glasses and her face (and probably her whole body) was covered in wrinckles. Her left eye was blind and she had this deep, man-like voice.
I heard faint sounds.
" Excuse me. Could you repeat that?" I said it as carefully as I could. She was known to punish the patients for even the smallest things.
"Excuse mee?.." She snared at me.
"I will make an exception this one time, because your're new. But for the future, you should remember to memorize every word I say, understood?.." She glared at me, looking like she could reach out for me, any second now.
"Yes, Lady.." I said with a small voice.
"Good, now the rules. You will get a piece of paper, look at it carefully and memorize it. She handed me the paper.  The writing was small, and almost impossible to read.
1 -  Do not step outside, unless you have special permission from the Doctor.
2 - All food is eaten in the dining area.
3 - No visiting other patients.
4 - Be in your bed at 5' O-clock precisely.
5 - Fighting or any sort of rulebreaking, will be severly punished!
"We wil be ringing the morningbell at 5am. You will dress yourself and come to the dining area. The doors to the dining area, close at 5:15, if you are not there by then you wont get any breakfest. Dinner is at 5pm, the doors close at 5:15. Be there!" She turned around, and walked away. I could hear her footsteps down the hall. Until, finally, a door closed.
I was alone.
